RV Traveling with Children

RV travel can be a great family adventure. Everyone can enjoy new sights, cities, and experiences. Get out into the great outdoors, go urban camping, and more! But before you hit the road with your kids, you’ll want to set your family up for a successful RV trip. We’ve gathered up our favorite tips for RV traveling with children below.

Choose the Destination Together

A great family RV trip starts with strategic planning. Try to pick somewhere that your kids actually want to visit! If they’re old enough, ask them for their input and see what places spark their interest. When kids get to voice their opinions and have a role in planning the camper trip, they’re much more likely to enjoy the vacation.

Plan Kid-Friendly Activities

You’ll also want to make sure your trip is full of kid-friendly activities. While you might enjoy lounging quietly by the lake for hours on end, your kids probably won’t.

Most places offer a range of suitable activities such as museums, zoos, parks, playgrounds, a lake or pool for swimming, horseback riding, and so on. You can even give your kids a spending allowance and go souvenir hunting!

Make the Road Trip Fun

Many kids struggle with the long hours sitting in the car. Help them pass the time by providing a range of activities they can enjoy. Get them to pack along their favorite books, movies, and toys to enjoy during the drive. You can even make a family music playlist and let everyone submit some of their favorite songs or have each family member take turns playing DJ.
