Reasons to Buy a Class C Motorhome Instead of Class B

When you’re looking for the perfect getaway, chances are you’re going to want to look into motorhomes—but these machines can be expensive, which might narrow your options. The smaller and less expensive models tend to be Class B and Class C motorhomes, but which is best for you?

We here at Maple Grove RV know everyone has different camping styles, so we’ve gone ahead and written about all the folks who might prefer the mid-sized Class C motorhomes and why, below. What’s the Difference?

First, let’s look at what sets Class B and Class C motorhomes apart. Class B models are the smallest motorhomes around and tend to be built on van chassis, making them compact and unobtrusive but also limiting the amenities they can carry.

Class C models are built on truck chassis, which makes them much longer—and even around a foot wider—than the average Class B. The truck frame and engine also make Class C models more durable and better able to handle bumps and less traditional roads.

You Want to be Comfortable.

One of the biggest draws of camping is spending time in or around nature. That said, there’s a limit to how much nature some of us can take, which is why campers are so popular. And when you’re in your camper, you want to be able to stretch out, relax, and maybe enjoy a home-cooked meal without bugs and other animals trying to snag a bite. Smaller motorhomes can sometimes get cramped, but a Class C model has plenty of legroom and more than enough storage to keep you full, comfortable, and entertained.

You Want to Camp Off the Beaten Path

Whether you’re boondocking, traveling cross-country, or just enjoying the peace offered by hanging out in the middle of nowhere, it always helps if you know your rig can handle a little off-roading. Class C motorhomes are easily the most rugged campers out there thanks to the truck body they’re built on. Great suspension, a durable and accessible engine, and plenty of power mean a Class C can take you wherever you want to go—and the diesel-powered Class Super C models even more so!
